When access is required at height it is often necessary to use some form of lift to raise either personnel or equipment so that work can commence. Examples of uses for such MEWPS (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms) are many, street lighting and roof works being just two. The reason to use such platforms is often driven by safety, especially with the LOLER and Working at Heights legislation. Types of MEWP'S

Personnel Lifts:-

Suitable for indoor applications where space is restricted, these are simple, lightweight units designed for one man operation. Features include ease of transportation, access through single doorways and passenger lifts and quick & simple operation. Working heights range from 4 to 16 metres.

Scissor Lifts:-

A full range of both diesel and battery powered models are available from all major manufacturers. These versatile machines offer a large working area and capacity and are suited to many industrial and construction applications, and because they only offer vertical movement, can provide superior weight movement capabilities. Working heights from 6 to 17 metres can be provided.

Self Propelled MEWP (Booms):-

The ability to travel whilst elevated, along with up and over reach make these MEWPs the most flexible available. Both diesel and battery models available are with working heights from 10 to 34 metres. Also in the Boom range of MEWP's are platforms with a telescopic boom design. These offers unrivalled speed of operation when elevated and are directly suited to construction applications. A full range of models are available.

Trailer Mounted MEWP's:-

Ideal for the Contractor on the move, these MEWP's are easily transported by towing behind a suitable car or van. Normally battery powered although petrol engine and bi-fuel power options are available. Their simple construction also offer a more cost effective alternative to other types of machine. Working heights from 8 to 22 metres.

Truck and Van Mounted Mobile Elevating Work Platforms:-

With this type of machine, transportation to the works site is no longer a problem. These MEWP's are particularly strong and stable machines and are suitable for all outdoor applications. We have a range of machines available on non HGV chassis, as well as a range for HGV chassis.

In some cases it is best to buy new access equipment, in others secondhand equipment is the better bet. In other cases again, hiring the required MEWP platforms offers the best route. We have access to a large base of equipment for hire, with depots throughout the UK, plus we always have a selection of used equipment. Plus of course we can source new access equipment for you from all the major MEWP manufactures.
